Shaping what your videos are about
Steering topics, product details and names, and why the deck has not changed yet.
Can I tell HeyCatch what my videos should be about, change what the videos are about, or give it feedback on the content it is creating?#
Yes. Post settings is where you change what the videos are about, update the prompt and creative direction behind them, and give feedback on the content it is creating. Open Videos in the sidebar and press the gear icon in the top right.
Content angles is the third of the nine sections there, under Format mix. An angle is the brief behind a post: what to talk about and who it is for, so a set of angles is a set of different story lines. Each angle has a Title, a Description and an Audience.
- Press the pencil icon on an angle to change it, then press Save changes.
- Press Add angle to write your own. You can have up to 100.
- Press the cross on an angle to remove it.
- Press Show more to see the angles below the first three.
Under Tone and Voice you update the voice and messaging: rules for how your posts sound, up to 10 entries under Do's and up to 10 under Don'ts, 150 characters each.
Between the angles and the tone rules, that is how you make the content more intentional rather than leaving it to run on whatever we inferred from your product.
Can I change or influence what the videos come up with?#
Yes. Open Videos in the sidebar, press the gear icon in the top right, and Post settings is where all of it lives. Each section steers a different part of what gets generated.
- Content angles: the story lines, meaning what a post talks about and who it is for.
- Tone and Voice: the voice and messaging, as Do's and Don'ts.
- Hashtags: the hashtags that always go on your posts, with a checkbox per platform.
- Format mix: what share of your videos comes as slideshows, wall of text, green screen and hook demo videos.
- Background images and videos: your own photos and clips, plus a scale that sets how often they are used instead of stock, so you influence which photos are used.
- Identity and Product, Purpose and Positioning, Market and Competition: the context we work from, including which features of your product get promoted.
- Brand mentions and Creator gender: how often your business is named, and who appears on screen.
Changes shape what gets made from then on. The videos already sitting in your deck keep the settings they were built with, and Regenerate videos rebuilds those against your new settings.
The way my product is described in my posts is wrong. How do I change what context it is using, or control which features of my app we are promoting?#
In Post settings, three of the nine sections hold the context we work from and control which features of your product get promoted. Each has a pencil icon on the right.
- Identity and Product: Core Identity, Product Offering, Unique Benefits and What it solves.
- Purpose and Positioning: Mission and Differentiation.
- Market and Competition: your Customer segments, each with a name, a description of what matters to them and a share in percent, and your Competitors, each with a name and an optional link. Add segments and competitors with the Add buttons, remove them with the cross, then press Save.
The link between these fields and your Product brief, Audience and Competitors runs one way. Applying an edit to those documents also refreshes what is in Post settings. Changes you make inside Post settings stay there and do not rewrite them.
They also behave differently: applying an edit to those documents costs 30 credits, and saving one stores your text until you press Apply now in the banner that appears, or until it goes in on its own tonight at midnight in your timezone, with the 30 credits charged either way. Post settings saves straight away and costs nothing.
My product name is wrong in the generated posts and videos. Can that be fixed?#
If your project's name is wrong, rename it yourself: on the Product brief page, press the chip with your project's name, the first one in the header, open Rename project, type the new name in Project name and press Rename project. It is free, and the new name goes everywhere HeyCatch holds it, including your brand hashtag and the brand profile your videos use. If the name is right in your project but comes out wrong in the posts, send us an example in this chat. Two things to expect.
- Content that was already generated or queued can still carry the old version for a while before the corrected one takes over.
- If your name comes back mangled or replaced with the word filtered, that is a known problem with the third party that generates the videos and posts. It happens on more than one account and it is not caused by anything in yours. Tell us which videos it appeared on.
I changed my settings but the videos in my deck look the same. Why?#
Because those videos were already built. Post settings changes what is generated next, not what is already sitting in your deck.
After a change, a notice appears at the top of Post settings: "Changes apply to new videos. The ones already prepared for you keep the settings they were built with." Next to it is a Regenerate videos button. Press it and the videos already waiting in your deck are remade to match the settings you just saved.
Regenerating does not use up your daily swipes and costs no credits. It has its own allowance of 3 per 4-week window.
If you would rather not rebuild, close the notice and the new settings take effect on their own as fresh videos come through.
Does Post settings change my Reddit, X and Threads drafts?#
No. Post settings shapes videos and image posts only. Your catch drafts on Reddit, X and Threads are not affected by it.
