Analytics / Your data
Overview
Website traffic by source on one page, where the sources come from, and an empty Overview.
What is the Overview page?#
Overview, under Analytics in the sidebar, brings your numbers together on one page. Today it shows Website traffic: where your site's visitors come from, in the chart Traffic by source.
- Total visitors for the period is at the top of the chart.
- Each source has its own line and its own chip. Press a chip to hide that source, and press it again to bring it back.
- The period starts at Last 30 days. Change it with the date button at the top right.
- Refresh pulls the latest data.
Product numbers are not on Overview yet. Your product analytics are on Product, under Analytics.
Where do the traffic sources on Overview come from?#
From the UTM tag on the link a visitor came through, its utm_source. A visit with no UTM tag and no referring site counts as Direct.
- Visits through your short links show as heycatch. To see which channel each of them came through, open Short links under Analytics.
- AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude show as sources when the link they send carries a UTM tag.
- Your own campaign links show under the utm_source you give them.
Why is my Overview page empty?#
- No analytics installed yet: Overview asks you to connect your website or app and shows an Install button. Install analytics first.
- Installed recently: the chart fills in as visitors arrive, so give it a little time after your first visits.
- Nothing in the chosen period: pick another period with the date button at the top right.
