# Your own photos and footage

Uploading backgrounds, how much of your footage is used, and picking from our library.

## Can I use my own images, influence which photos are used, or change the backgrounds in my videos?

Yes. Open Videos in the sidebar, press the gear icon in the top right of the deck, and the first section of Post settings is Background images and videos.

There are two tiles. Add photos and videos lets you pick the photos and videos you like from our library: search, press your picks, then Add to library. Browse files here takes your own files: drag them onto it, or press browse to pick them, and tick where each one can appear, because a file with no box ticked is stored but never picked. Both land in the same library, which your videos and image posts can be built from, and neither costs anything: no swipes and no credits. The scale under the tiles sets how often posts use that library instead of stock, so set it to Mostly mine or Only mine if you want it in most videos. Format mix decides how many videos come as Green screen or Hook demo videos, the formats that put a person on screen.

This shapes the videos made from now on. The ones already sitting in your deck keep the look they were built with, and Regenerate videos, in the notice at the top of Post settings after a change, rebuilds them.

## Can I use my own images or backgrounds in the generated posts and videos?

Yes. Open Videos in the sidebar, press the gear icon in the top right of the deck, and use Background images and videos, the first section of Post settings. Drag your files in and choose how often they are used instead of stock footage. What you upload is used in videos and in image posts, and uploading spends nothing. If you have nothing of your own, the tile next to the upload area, Add photos and videos, lets you pick photos and videos from our library, and they land next to your uploads; the steps are in "I have no photos or clips of my own. Can I pick stock footage for my videos?".

What you cannot change is a video that already exists. Its text, imagery and background are fixed once it is built, so uploads shape what gets made next.

## How much of my own footage gets used?

You choose. Under the upload area is a row labelled "How often posts use your own footage instead of stock." with five settings:

1. Only stock
2. Mostly stock
3. Mixed
4. Mostly mine
5. Only mine

Press the one you want. It saves as soon as you press it.

Your own footage here means your library: the files you uploaded and the photos and videos you picked from our library, which sit in the same list under the scale.

## What files can I upload for backgrounds?

1. Images up to 10 MB, as JPG, PNG or WebP.
2. Video up to 50 MB, as MP4 or MOV.
3. Up to 2 GB of uploaded material per project in total.

The two per-file limits are printed on the Browse files here tile, so you can check them without leaving the screen. The 2 GB total per project is not shown on screen.

## Where are my uploaded files, and how do I delete one?

In Post settings, under Background images and videos. Below the scale that sets how often posts use your own footage sits a gallery of everything you have uploaded and everything you picked from our library, with All, Images and Videos tabs, and each file listed with its name, size and the date it was added.

Opening a file shows its card. Under "Where this file can appear in your posts." an image carries Slideshow image and Green screen background, and a video carries Background video and Hook video, the same boxes you tick before pressing Upload. They control where that file can be used, and the next question explains each one. Category changes apply to the videos and posts generated from then on; cards that already exist do not change.

The pencil icon edits a file and the cross deletes it. Deleting asks for a confirmation and cannot be undone. A pick from our library is removed the same way.

## What is the difference between a Background video and a Hook video, and what is a Green screen background?

The categories say which kind of post a file can be picked for. A file can carry more than one, and a file with none ticked is stored but never picked automatically.

1. Background video. Ordinary footage. It is the clip behind the text in a Wall of text video, one long block of text over a still or a slow clip. Think b-roll: the product in use, the place, the process.
2. Hook video. The person in the first two seconds of a Hook demo video, the moment that stops the scroll before the product is shown doing the thing it is good at. A short clip of someone reacting or saying one line works best. Hook demo videos are only made once at least one Hook video is uploaded; until then that share of your Format mix goes to the other formats.
3. Green screen background. An image, not a video. In a Green screen video a person stands in front of your image, reacting to what is on it, so your screenshot, product page or article is what the viewer sees behind them.
4. Slideshow image. A slide in a slideshow.

Tick the boxes that fit before you press Upload, and change them later from the file's card. Category changes shape the videos made from then on; cards already in your deck keep the settings they were built with.

## I uploaded my images but my videos still look the same

Those videos were already built. Anything you change in Post settings shapes what gets made next.

After a change a notice appears at the top of the panel: "Changes apply to new videos. The ones already prepared for you keep the settings they were built with." Next to it is a Regenerate videos button, which rebuilds the videos waiting in your deck against your new settings. It does not use up your daily swipes and it costs no credits.

## I have no photos or clips of my own. Can I pick stock footage for my videos?

Yes. You can pick the photos and videos you like from our library, and they get used in your videos. The picker sits in Background images and videos, next to the upload area, on the tile Add photos and videos.

1. Open Videos in the sidebar, press the gear icon in the top right of the deck, and expand Background images and videos, the first section of Post settings.
2. Press Add photos and videos, the tile next to Browse files here.
3. Type a word into the search box. The picker's own tip is to describe the setting, "morning kitchen" or "city street", rather than your product. Results come up in a grid, each with its author's name under it.
4. Press the photos or videos you want, then Add to library. The button counts your picks, Add 1 to library, Add 2 to library, and the message "1 file added to your library" confirms it.

The picks land in the same list as your uploads, first in the list, with the same All, Images and Videos tabs and the same pencil and cross on hover. From there they are used like your own footage: the scale under the tiles, How often posts use your own footage instead of stock, sets how often posts draw on them, so set it to Mostly mine or Only mine if you want your picks in most videos. There is no price on the button, so picking spends no credits.

Two things the picker says about itself, and they apply to every pick: stock is background only, so no one in it appears to endorse your product, and shots with visible logos are skipped.

Picks shape the videos made from now on. A video that already exists keeps the footage it was built with, and Regenerate videos rebuilds the ones waiting in the deck.
