# The dashboard

What the dashboard and the journey map show, and why it can look empty.

## What does the dashboard show?

A written summary of what is happening, five metric cards, a chart of how people move through your product, recommended fixes, and a users table.

The cards are Total users, Sessions, Pageviews, Clicks and Total events, each with its percentage change. Next to them sit a refresh button and a period filter covering the last 30 days.

The chart under the cards shows how people move through your product. Press its name, at the top left of the card, to see the list of your charts. The first ones are made for you from your own tracked events: Default users journey, a flow map that starts at the first step and follows every path people took, including where they dropped off, and Conversion funnel, fixed steps in a fixed order with the conversion at each one. You can build your own next to them, a funnel of 2 to 20 steps or another flow map, with + Create new at the bottom of that list, and the three dots on the card hold Edit and Delete for the chart on screen. The steps are in "Can I change the steps in my funnel?".

At the top of Product there is one tab per surface: Web app / Website, and a second tab for your mobile app once the app sends events. Each has its own cards and its own charts. Until the app is installed, that second tab reads + Add mobile app and takes you to the mobile install.

## What is the Default users journey chart, and how do I read a flow map?

It is the chart you see first on Analytics, Product, and it is a flow map: it starts from one step and follows every path people took from there, including where they dropped off.

Read it left to right, in columns: Step 1, Step 2 and so on. Each block is an event or a page, with the number of users who went that way and their share of everyone at the first step. Dropped off is the people who went no further, and a block such as "25 more events" groups the smaller paths. Show more under the chart opens them up, and if the map is wider than the card you can scroll it sideways to the later steps.

Default users journey is made for you from your own tracked events. To follow a different path, press the chart's name at the top left of the card and choose + Create new, pick Flow map, and set the event it starts from, the direction, how many steps to follow and how many events to show at each step. Your earlier funnel is in the same list, as Conversion funnel.

## My dashboard looks empty and the recommendations are thin.

Ask us in this chat before assuming it is a fault. We can see whether your SDK is installed, whether events are arriving right now, and how much traffic has actually landed, and those three tell you which of the two answers below is yours.

If events are arriving and the volume is just small, this is expected rather than broken. With a handful of users there is not enough signal yet, and both the summary and the recommendations sharpen as data comes in.

If no events are arriving at all, the dashboard is empty because nothing is reaching it, and the fix is on the install rather than on the dashboard.

## The dashboard shows my whole app as one page that nobody leaves. Why?

Because the SDK sends a pageview per URL, and in a single-page app or a WebView build the URL does not change as people move between screens, so every pageview records the same path. The funnel builds its steps out of those paths, which is why it draws one step with no exit.

To get your real screens in there, send them yourself as named events wherever a screen opens, for example a screen_viewed event with the screen name as a property. Named events are what the funnel picks its steps from.

## Do you track my App Store or Play Store numbers?

No. Store-level metrics like impressions and installs are not available. The SDK tracks in-app events instead.
